About The Merchants House

The Merchants House is situated in the heart of Leominster, in a beautiful grade 2 listed ‘black and white’ building in Corn Square. We are a café by day, serving home made lunches, snacks and cream teas and a restaurant by night on Friday and Saturday evenings.

The Merchants House has the additional benefit of an enclosed walled courtyard where you can enjoy your lunch, coffee or cream tea during the day or pre dinner drinks before your evening meal in the restaurant. In the Winter months we have an open log fire in the main restaurant area to enjoy. We are a family friendly cafe and dogs are more than welcome in the courtyard.

Head Chef, Frank Eckermann, joined the team in May 2012. Frank was Michelin trained by the Roux Brothers and is highly experienced in producing good quality, fresh, home cooked and imaginative dishes from scratch. He is passionate about his food and we know you will be too!

The quality of our food and service is very important to us and we source local Herefordshire produce wherever possible. We use our local butcher for fresh quality meat and the majority of our salads are produced on an organic farm just outside Leominster. We also support the Friday Leominster market traders in Corn Square by purchasing additional vegetables and cheeses.

The restaurant is an ideal venue for birthday or celebration meals with family or friends or just a simple dinner for two, as there is a lovely cosy atmosphere with several areas to the restaurant. The upper floors of The Merchants House are home to ‘Past & Present, Antiques and Collectable’ where several dealers trade in a wide variety of styles. From antiques, art, collectables, vintage items and jewellery through to reproduction, painted furniture, craft works and linen. We also stock fresh herbs and spices and a selection of indoor house plants.
